Supporting Little Tern, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher and other shorebirds across the the UK, Ireland and the Isle of Man
The Forum
Initially created with a Little Tern focus, it has evolved to into the Beach Nesting Birds Forum to support other shorebirds that face similar threats and pressures during the breeding season.
Therefore if you are working on shorebirds (Little Tern, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher, Avocet, etc) within the British Isles, we hope that this forum which will allow for better communication between sites, regions and countries.
This will provide individuals with a platform that hosts best practice documents, sharing of management techniques and a place for queries.
A benefit of this forum is that it can be accessed on a smartphone as an app or via an internet browser on a laptop.
Restricted Access
As some shorebirds are a Schedule 1 listed species and it is a criminal offence to intentionally disturb them, access to this forum is restricted since site locations may be confidential.

- Your tern role
- Colony or area you work in
- Name of referee i.e. site manager or authorised regional coordinator
